IN PRINCIPLE, NO THREAT TO THE LESSER ANTILLES, BUT BE READY...

EN PRINCIPE, RIEN NE MENACE LES PETITES ANTILLES, MAIS SOYONS PRÊTS...

INVEST 95L / CYCLONE JULIA...
Menace possible? Possible threat?

A broad area of low pressure, associated with a tropical wave, located a couple of hundred miles east-southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands is producing a large area of disorganized cloudiness and showers. Slow development of this disturbance is possible during the next several days while it moves west-northwestward at 10 to 15 mph over the tropical Atlantic. (NHC).
But if all goes well, JULIA should move well off our islands within about 1 week. In addition, according to GFS, it could have some difficulties to form before approaching our region and even collapse. However, it should be closely monitor!

  • Formation chance through 48 hours...low...40 %
  • Formation chance through 5 days...medium...60 %

NOTE:

  • 93L is about to become a tropical cyclone. It could affect the southeastern US coast from northern Florida to South Carolina.
  • Tropical Storm Ian moving away northward... No threat to any land...

According to this NHC graphic, the path of this system should move slightly north off our islands. According to Weather Underground graphic (lowermost), this system could collapse well before approaching the Lesser Antilles.

  2. Onde Tropicale. Arrivée dans environ 5-6 jours (Weekend)

TROPICAL WAVES AND OTHER DISTURBANCES THAT COULD AFFECT OUR ISLANDS (from GFS model)
  1. Trough or Tropical Cyclone's tail. Slowly approaching. Arrival: from Thursday. Could produce bad weather until Sunday.
  2. Tropical Wave. ETA: 5-6 days (Weekend)
  3. Tropical System possible: ETA: 1 week. Should probably move off our islands. Could have some difficulties to form. To monitor...

METEO | WEATHER

Rather good weather until tomorrow Wednesday. However, the NHC foresees isolated showers and thunderstorms until Wednesday night.
From Thursday, a trough -Cyclone Ian's tail- could affect our islands and bring some bad weather, but not sure.
This trough should be followed by a Tropical Wave at end of the weekend.
Next week (Wednesday?), tropical cyclone JULIA could approach our region, but we hope that it will go off and perhaps not form at all.

  • Yesterday and last night: Fairly good weather with however a few showers in the vicinity.
  • Currently: 9 am. Great weather. Mostly sunny to partly cloudy at time. Wind 10 mph ENE. Temperature 86°F. Humidity 70%. Pressure 1016 hPa. Visibility > 6,2 miles. Scattered clouds at 2100 ft. Smooth waves in the bay.

  • Today & tomorrow: partly sunny to partly cloudy at times with a low chance -10%- of showers. Wind ENE to ESE light to moderate 6-15 mph. Seas: slight to moderate 3 to 5 ft in a fairly strong swell from east-northeast.
  • From Thursday: a trough which is cyclone Ian's tail could (Not sure) reach the islands chain bringing a poor weather until Friday.
  • Next Weekend: New Tropical Wave from Sunday to Monday. Cloudy with a good chance of rain and thunderstorms
  • Next week. Tropical cyclone JULIA could approach our islands from Wednesday, Sept. 21 but it is not sure.

MARINE

Possible arrival of heavy easterly then ENE swell (origin Tropical Cyclone Ian). Generally, easterly swells doesn't affect our beaches (at NBBC).
